Guide to Safe Use of Power Bank Released

According to the Industrial and Information Technology WeChat News, power banks will be included in the national mandatory product certification catalog from August 1, 2024. Professional organizations remind consumers to recognize the CCC mark and use it in a standardized manner when purchasing.

When choosing a power bank, it is necessary to recognize the CCC mark and refuse to purchase or sell unverified products; It is recommended to choose a capacity of around 10000mAh for daily use. During use, follow the "five don'ts": avoid overcharging (no more than 8 hours per use), stay away from high temperature environments, prevent squeezing and impact, do not mix with metal objects, and stop using equipment with damaged casings or bulging batteries.

It is strictly prohibited to check in power banks while flying. Carrying them with you requires CCC certification, with a rated energy not exceeding 100Wh (approval is required for exceeding 100Wh but not exceeding 160Wh, with a limit of two). The switch should be turned off throughout the journey and use is prohibited. Passengers taking high-speed trains are allowed to carry clearly marked power banks with a maximum capacity of 100Wh per unit.

Used power banks are classified as hazardous waste and should be disposed of in dedicated battery recycling bins or hazardous waste collection points. Experts emphasize the safety mnemonic: buy through legitimate channels, use it in good habits, stop immediately if there are any abnormalities, and recycle it environmentally friendly.
